According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Deputy Foreign Minister Bagheri stated that Raisi will visit Turkey in the first week of January at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Turkey-Iran High-Level Cooperation Council is also expected to be held during Raisi's visit.

IT HAD BEEN CANCELED

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had canceled his planned visit to Ankara at the last minute on November 28. Erdoğan had previously stated that they would focus on formulating a joint response to Israel's attacks on Gaza.

It is stated that the sudden suspension of the visit stemmed from the Iranian President's view that Turkey was not taking a stance against Israel that went beyond harsh rhetoric.

It is alleged that Raisi wants to exert more pressure on Turkey because, despite recalling its ambassador for consultations, Turkey continues its relations with Israel.
