Iranian President Pezeshkian: The US wants us to give them all our uranium

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made statements to journalists before departing from New York, where he was attending the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly, to Tehran. Stating that the UN General Assembly provided an important opportunity to explain Iran's positions to the world, Pezeshkian said, "We have voiced the oppression our people have suffered and the just cause of our country on this platform."

"THE US DEMANDS ARE ILLOGICAL"

Pezeshkian stated that while an agreement had been reached with European parties on some issues, the US approach was completely different, saying, "The US is telling us to give them all our enriched uranium, and in return, they will only grant us a three-month sanctions waiver. This is unacceptable in any way. A few months later, they will come with new demands and want to initiate the 'snapback' process. If we have to choose between their illogical demands and a 'snapback,' we would choose the 'snapback.' In that case, we will still be able to solve all our problems."

"MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN"

Emphasizing that the necessary measures are ready if the 'snapback' mechanism is activated, Pezeshkian said, "We will succeed in overcoming this situation thanks to the relations we have established with our neighbors, BRICS countries, and members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as the Iranian people who believe in the independence and honor of our country."

Pezeshkian noted that Israel's actions and the support provided by the US have led to a strong reaction in world public opinion, stating, "A global protest movement has formed against the Israeli regime. This process is also reflected in international discussions. We hope that the effects of this movement will emerge in a short time."

"THE ALLEGATIONS ARE JUST A GAME"

Pezeshkian stated that they emphasized the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities during the meetings and sessions held within the scope of the UN General Assembly. Expressing that they conveyed the facts regarding the country's nuclear program to their counterparts through diplomacy, Pezeshkian stated that the allegations put forward by Israel and the US were "nothing more than a game staged to blame Iran."

"WE ARE NOT PURSUING NUCLEAR WEAPONS"

Emphasizing that Iran has never had the goal of producing nuclear weapons, Pezeshkian said, "Iran did not pursue nuclear weapons in the past, has no such intention today, and will not have one in the future. This is the clear order of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some people may have different opinions, but what will be implemented are the words and policies determined by the leader. We will act in line with this path."

Pezeshkian stated that following the potential activation of the 'snapback' mechanism, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his foreign policy team have held meetings with representatives of many countries, from Europe to Islamic nations, regarding the steps Iran will take. Pezeshkian said, "This is not the end of the world. If we are weak, they will crush us. That is why we must increase both our solidarity and our scientific and cultural power. If we are strong and act in unity, we do not need to fear such crises. This process will be overcome in time, and Iran's righteousness will emerge here as well."
