Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant targeted three times

In attacks by the US and Israel against Iran, the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located on the coast of the Persian Gulf, has been targeted for the third time.

In a statement issued by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, it was said, "A missile struck the site of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Friday at 23:40.

According to initial data, there were no casualties, or material or technical damage in the incident. Initial investigations conducted following the attack show that although the projectile struck the plant site, no damage occurred in the different sections of the facility."

"Could cause a serious nuclear accident"

The statement further noted that the plant in question has been targeted by the US and Israel for the third time since February 28, adding, "The plant is currently operational and contains a significant amount of radioactive material. Therefore, any damage to the facility could lead to a serious nuclear accident that could have irreversible consequences in the region. Targeting peaceful nuclear facilities is a clear violation of international regulations regarding the exemption of such centers from military attacks. Such actions could seriously threaten the security and safety of the region."

Targeted twice before

The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant site had also been the target of missile attacks by the US and Israel on March 17 and 24, following the attacks that began on February 28. It was reported that there were no casualties or material damage in those attacks and that no damage occurred in any part of the plant.
