Iran's response to the US on ceasefire

Mehdi Mohammadi, an advisor to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated in a social media post that the ongoing US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is militarily indistinguishable from an attack. Mohammadi argued that a military response to the blockade is necessary.

Advisor Mohammadi claimed that the primary goal of the US decision to extend the ceasefire is to gain time for new attacks against Iran. Using the phrase "the losing side cannot dictate the terms," Mohammadi emphasized that in the current situation, the US cannot manage the process through unilateral decisions.

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump had previously shared with the public that the duration of the ceasefire had been extended at the initiative of Pakistan. In his statement, Trump claimed there were serious divisions within the Iranian leadership and announced that a new attack on Iran had been suspended at the request of Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In his statement, Trump used the following expressions:

"Given the fact that the Iranian leadership is in a state of serious division, and at the request of General Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from Pakistan, we have been asked to suspend our attack on Iran until their leaders and representatives present a joint proposal. Therefore, I have instructed our military to maintain the blockade and remain ready in every respect; thus, I will extend the ceasefire until (Iran's) proposal is presented and negotiations are concluded in some way."
