The Iraqi government has issued a directive requiring the PKK to be defined as a "banned organization" in official correspondence within state institutions.

According to reports in local media, the official letter sent to the Iraqi Parliament includes the new directive from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani regarding the PKK.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Sudani has requested that the term "banned organization" be used for the PKK in correspondence within official institutions.

The Iraqi government had previously declared the PKK a "banned organization."
