A statement was issued by the Iraqi Presidency regarding the terrorist organization PKK's move to lay down arms. The statement said, "The Presidency welcomes the announcement by the PKK to initiate a disarmament process, which is an important and historic step toward ending decades of armed conflict and security violations that have cost the lives of countless civilians. This development paves the way for a more stable and secure future and strengthens hopes for peace and constructive cooperation across the region. 

The Presidency emphasizes the importance of all parties demonstrating full commitment to ensuring security, respecting sovereignty, and supporting the legitimate rights of all communities. This is a significant turning point in efforts to ensure long-term peace and stability," the statement read.

The statement added, "The Iraqi Presidency fully supports this step and reaffirms its determination to contribute to all efforts aimed at ensuring its success by closing a painful chapter in our shared history and opening a new one based on dialogue, partnership, and mutual understanding."

The statement also emphasized that this step is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey, which are built on mutual respect, common interests, and a shared vision for regional security and prosperity.

The first group of PKK terrorists laid down their arms yesterday in the Sulaymaniyah province of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq.
