Is another war on the horizon? Many soldiers have lost their lives

Intense clashes have occurred between the Pakistan Army and Taliban forces in the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army announced that 23 soldiers were killed and 29 were wounded in the fighting. Pakistan stated that it responded to the attacks within the scope of "self-defense."

In a statement issued by Pakistan, it was claimed that the Afghan administration and India-backed groups carried out attacks at the border. It was reported that many Afghan positions were destroyed during the clashes and 21 were briefly captured. Furthermore, it was alleged that more than 200 "terrorists" linked to the Afghan administration were neutralized.

HOW DID THE CLASHES BEGIN?

On October 9, explosions occurred in the Afghan capital of Kabul, and the Afghan administration held Pakistan responsible for these incidents. In the following days, clashes broke out between the border forces of the two countries in Afghanistan's Paktia province. The Afghan administration claimed that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 were wounded in these clashes. Additionally, it was announced that 9 Afghan soldiers also lost their lives in the fighting.

UN CALLS FOR DE-ESCALATION

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi stated in a post on social media that they hope for a rapid de-escalation of tensions on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Emphasizing that the region has long been struggling with conflict and humanitarian crises, Grandi said, "We hope for a rapid de-escalation for the sake of those affected by the conflict and for regional stability."

While it was stated that the clashes were halted through the mediation of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, it was reported that the tension in the region is being closely monitored by the international community.
