Israel issues 'urgent' call to NATO regarding Turkey: 'Contact all members'

Israel has called for Turkey to be expelled from NATO. Israeli Foreign Minister Katz has instructed diplomats in the country to "urgently contact all NATO members."

Since October 7, at least 39,363 Palestinians, including at least 16,172 children and 10,798 women, have lost their lives in the attacks on the Gaza Strip, and 90,923 people have been injured.

Despite this massacre and the strong condemnation by world states, Israel, which continues its attacks, has now issued a scandalous call. Tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv continue to escalate.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has taken a step that will further raise tensions.

In a statement from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said, "In light of Turkish President Erdoğan's threats to invade Israel and his dangerous rhetoric, Foreign Minister Israel Katz has instructed diplomats to urgently contact all NATO members with the demand that Turkey be condemned and expelled from the regional alliance."

"ERDOĞAN MUST BE CONDEMNED"

Stating that "The US and the Western world must condemn Erdoğan and block his destructive actions," Katz used the following expressions:

"Turkey, which hosts the Hamas headquarters responsible for terror attacks against Israel, has become a member of Iran's axis of evil along with Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis in Yemen."

WHAT HAPPENED?

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had said regarding Israel's attacks on Palestine, "Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we might do the same to them. There is nothing that prevents us from doing so."

Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz had also made a post on his social media account containing slander and insults targeting President Erdoğan.

Successive condemnations had come from Turkey regarding Katz's statements.

A 72-YEAR NATO MEMBER

Turkey became a member of NATO during its first expansion on February 18, 1952.

The alliance, which brought the two sides of the Atlantic together around the principle of collective defense in the post-World War II era, gained an important ally on its southeastern flank with Turkey's membership.

In the last two years, as war has returned to the European continent, Turkey's important role in the security of the alliance, especially in Europe, has become increasingly visible, while it simultaneously fights directly against the threat of terrorism and provides support to Ukraine.

NATO members express Turkey's contribution to the alliance at every opportunity.

Israel, which is not a NATO member, has a permanent office at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
