Israel now attacks UN forces

The Israeli army has carried out a tank strike against United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) soldiers serving on Lebanese territory.

In a statement released by UNIFIL on social media, it was reported that an Israeli Merkava tank opened fire on UN soldiers stationed in Lebanon during the morning hours.

It was stated that the attack landed just 5 meters away from the UNIFIL soldiers. This incident was assessed as a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The statement reiterated the call for the Israeli army to cease all attacks against UNIFIL forces or areas in their immediate vicinity.
