Israel strikes Russian weapons depot: What will the Russian response be?
The Israeli Air Force has carried out an attack on a weapons depot near the Hmeimim Air Base, which is considered the most important Russian military facility in Syria.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed a Russian-owned weapons depot in an airstrike last night (October 3) in Jableh, near the Syrian port city of Latakia.
Following the attacks it launched in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces are also targeting Lebanon and Syria.
In a statement issued by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, it was reported that the weapons depot sustained heavy damage and powerful explosions occurred during the attack, which was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and fighter jets near the Hmeimim Air Base, the largest Russian military facility in the country.
The statement noted that Syrian air defense systems and Russian military forces stationed nearby responded to the attack within approximately 50 minutes.
It was learned that there were no deaths or injuries in the attack.
Russia has not yet made a statement regarding the matter. However, it is known that the Russians provide support to Hezbollah and Hamas against Israel.
Reporting on the attack, Reuters wrote that it is possible for Russia to provide further support to the groups fighting Israel.
WHY WAS THE RUSSIAN DEPOT TARGETED?
In a statement made by Israel, it was claimed that the weapons depot was used to provide military equipment to Hezbollah.
It is alleged that Russia and Syria were using the facility to supply ammunition and new weapons to Lebanon from other countries.
In its announcement, the IDF stated that it 'will block all weapons shipments made to Hezbollah in Iran and Lebanon, which are usually sent via Syria.'
