The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the ambassadors of Spain, Ireland, and Norway for consultations following their decision to "recognize the Palestinian state."
According to a report in El Pais, the Israeli Foreign Ministry accused the three European countries of "awarding a medal to Hamas" and threatened them, stating, "There will be serious consequences."
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 3 COUNTRIES FROM JORDAN
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi welcomed the announcement by Norway, Ireland, and Spain that they will officially recognize Palestine.
Safadi met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto in the capital, Amman.
Speaking at a press conference held after the meeting, Safadi referred to the announcements by Norway, Ireland, and Spain regarding their recognition of Palestine, stating, "The decision of these countries to recognize the State of Palestine is an important and essential step to confirm that the path to peace is a two-state solution that represents an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in occupied Jerusalem, based on the June 4, 1967 lines."
Safadi expressed his belief that other countries would soon join Spain, Norway, and Ireland.
Condemning the raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and numerous fanatic Jewish settlers, and describing it as a "violation of international law," Safadi noted the following:
"We saw the extremist Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir enter the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in a provocative act, violating international law and the existing historical and legal status quo at the holy sites. This will further deadlock a situation that is already on the verge of explosion."
Safadi stated that the situation in the occupied West Bank is "deteriorating and that illegal, oppressive measures that eliminate the chance of achieving peace are continuing."
