In a statement issued by the Israeli army, it was noted that it has withdrawn from the western part of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The statement said, "The 98th Commando Division completed its mission and withdrew from Khan Yunis last night after conducting operations there for 4 months."

The statement also reported that the Nahal Brigade will continue to remain in Gaza to prevent Palestinians in the southern part of Gaza from returning to the north.

Palestinian officials, however, stated that Israeli forces have completely withdrawn from the western part of Khan Yunis but continue to be stationed in the east.
