Israeli army targets Al Jazeera journalists

The Israeli army has targeted 6 journalists working for the Qatar-based Al Jazeera channel.

According to a statement released by the army, it was alleged that these journalists are linked to Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

The Israeli army claimed that documents allegedly seized in Gaza reveal that the 6 journalists working for Al Jazeera are members of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

The statement alleged that there is evidence proving that the 6 journalists were involved in military activities with Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

ISRAELI ARMY: 'THEY ARE 'PIONEERS' IN HAMAS PROPAGANDA'

The same statement claimed that the journalists worked for Al Jazeera in the northern Gaza Strip and were "pioneers" in Hamas propaganda through their work. Among those targeted are Al Jazeera reporter Ismail al-Ghoul, who was killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip, and Anas al-Sharif, whose home was bombed during Israeli attacks.

In a statement, Al Jazeera said, "We reject the Israeli occupation forces' portrayal of our journalists as terrorists and condemn their use of fabricated evidence. We state that our journalists are merely performing their professional duties, documenting and reporting on the devastating impact of the war on the two million civilians in the Gaza Strip."

ISRAEL HAS KILLED 128 JOURNALISTS IN GAZA

According to a statement by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 128 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

AL JAZEERA WAS SHUT DOWN IN ISRAEL

A proposal submitted by Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi to "terminate the operations of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television in Israel and close its offices" was unanimously approved, and Al Jazeera's operations were terminated.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a post on his social media account, "The government I lead has unanimously decided to terminate the operations of the incitement channel Al Jazeera in Israel."

Under the decision, it was determined that the television channels and websites under the Al Jazeera umbrella would have their operations in Israel terminated, their broadcasts stopped, access to their websites blocked, their offices closed, and their equipment confiscated.
