Israeli media: Attacks on Lebanon halted at US request
Israeli media reported that the Israeli army has halted its attacks on southern Lebanon following a request from the US.

In a report citing an unnamed Israeli security official, Israel's state broadcaster KAN stated that the directive issued by the Tel Aviv administration to the army, in line with requests from the US, will remain in effect until the tensions between Iran and the US and the course of the negotiations with Lebanon become clear.
The report noted that while the Tel Aviv administration views a potential retaliatory strike targeting Israel as an opportunity to hit strategic targets in Iran, it has instructed the army to "remain on standby" at the request of the White House to prevent the current tensions from spilling over into Israel.
On the other hand, KAN reported that the Israeli army is expected to begin withdrawing from pilot regions in southern Lebanon starting next week.
It was recalled that, concurrent with the withdrawal process, a new round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel will be held in Rome, the capital of Italy.
It was noted that the Israeli delegation at the Rome talks will be led by US Ambassador Yechiel Leiter and will include the technical team that participated in previous rounds of negotiations.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar had announced that the next round of negotiations with Lebanon would be held next week in Rome, the capital of Italy.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had stated, "It has been confirmed that the talks will be held in Rome. The planned date is July 15-16. However, this also depends somewhat on the Americans, the Lebanese, and the Israelis; they must decide. We have offered our availability."
