Israeli media: Netanyahu rejects Egypt's proposal for a short-term ceasefire in Gaza

Israeli media reported that despite the support of most ministers in the government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the short-term ceasefire in Gaza proposed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Reports from Israel's state broadcaster KAN and Channel 12 stated that the Tel Aviv administration did not accept Egypt's proposal.

The report on Channel 12's website stated that although most ministers in the Israeli government supported Egypt's proposal, Netanyahu opposed it. The report noted that Netanyahu argued that "hostage exchange negotiations will only continue while attacks on Gaza are ongoing," and that Egypt's proposal was rejected.

SISI HAD SAID, 'NEGOTIATIONS WILL BE HELD FOR A PERMANENT CEASEFIRE'

The report also pointed out that Israeli security agencies supported Egypt's proposal. Egyptian President Sisi had stated that they proposed a two-day ceasefire initiative for the exchange of 4 Israeli hostages and some detained Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel continues its attacks. Sisi had used the expression, "Negotiations will be held within the next 10 days to turn the temporary ceasefire into a permanent one."
