Israel's state broadcaster KAN reported that the Israeli War Cabinet and the expanded Israeli Political and Security Cabinet will discuss new terms today for a potential prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.

According to KAN, the expanded Israeli Political and Security Cabinet and the Israeli War Cabinet will meet to discuss the outlines of a new prisoner exchange deal and a potential military operation in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
It was stated that the new initiative was prepared by the Israeli military, the foreign intelligence agency Mossad, and the internal security agency Shin Bet (Shabak).
The report noted that "the new initiative aimed at reaching an agreement for the return of the hostages was discussed yesterday in Cairo at a meeting between Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi, Shin Bet (Shabak) Director Ronen Bar, and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel."
A report on the Israeli news site "Walla," citing an unnamed senior official, also stated that the Israeli War Cabinet would launch a new initiative for a deal to release Israelis held by Hamas in Gaza.
The report noted that this matter is an internal Israeli discussion and does not mean that a proposal from Hamas or the mediators is currently on the table.
Negotiations have not yet yielded results due to the Tel Aviv administration's rejection of Hamas's demands for an end to Israeli attacks, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, and the return of Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip.
