Allegations that Israelis have begun unauthorized construction in the village of Trozena, which they purchased in the GASC

As debates regarding Israeli investors in the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GASC) continue, the Greek Cypriot press has put forward a new allegation. Reports in the Greek Cypriot media claim that Israeli investors have begun construction work in the village of Trozena, which they purchased, without obtaining the necessary permits.

The reports stated that Greek Cypriot officials visited the village yesterday to conduct inspections and determined that earthworks and some construction projects were being carried out both within and around the village without the required permits.

The reports, which noted that the Israeli investor's permit applications are currently under review, indicated that the plan is to create an area capable of hosting 132 people once the construction of new houses and the renovation of some old houses are completed.

Allegations that Israelis are blocking access to the church in the village they purchased

It had previously been alleged that the Israeli investors who purchased the village were not allowing Greek Cypriots to enter the Saint Georgios Church located there. A police officer who made a statement on the matter confirmed that a large tract of land in the region had passed into the ownership of the Israelis and stated that access to areas remaining within the boundaries of private property could be restricted.
