According to the 2023 European Aviation Overview Report, Istanbul Airport has reached the position of the busiest airport in Europe with 1,375 flights. According to the report published by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), Amsterdam Schiphol Airport ranked second with 1,255 flights, while London Heathrow Airport ranked third with 1,251 flights.

Frankfurt Airport has taken the fifth spot with 1,198 flights. Furthermore, the report states that Turkey is the sixth country with the highest traffic volume in Europe, with an average of 3,026 daily flights. Among the airlines performing the most flights during this period, Turkish Airlines (THY) ranks third with an average of 1,443 daily flights.
