Istanbul becomes the second most expensive city in the world

Time Out magazine examined the cost of daily social activities through a survey involving more than 18,000 people living in over 100 cities worldwide. The survey evaluated the impact of social activities such as dining out, drinking coffee, and nightlife on budgets, rather than focusing on rent or grocery expenses.

According to the research results, most people living in major cities state that their expenses increase rapidly once they leave their homes. Even simple activities like buying a coffee or having a drink with friends can strain a daily budget. For this reason, Time Out questioned how accessible the cultural and social activities of these cities are.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE CITY: SEOUL

According to the survey results, Seoul, the capital of South Korea, was identified as the city where daily life is most expensive. While only 30 percent of those living in Seoul think that dining out is affordable, the rate of those who find nightlife economical remained at 27 percent. Although drinking coffee stood out as a relatively more affordable activity, only 43 percent of city residents stated that they found coffee prices reasonable.

ISTANBUL SECOND

While Istanbul ranked second in Time Out's list, Oslo found its place in third. This situation indicates that social life in major metropolises is becoming increasingly expensive.

London, on the other hand, did not rank high on the list due to its large number of free or low-cost museums and art galleries, remaining in 13th place. This shows that London is in a more advantageous position in terms of access to cultural activities.
