It had been canceled: Critical movement in US-Iran negotiations

Following the agreement between the US and Iran, the question of when negotiations between the two countries would begin has been a subject of curiosity, and a notable development has occurred regarding the matter.

According to a report by the US-based news site Axios, citing government sources, it has been reported that Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, is en route to Switzerland for the first round of expected negotiations with Iran.

It was also reported that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is already in Switzerland.

US-IRAN MEETING PLANNED IN SWITZERLAND HAD BEEN CANCELED

The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs had announced that the meeting expected to take place yesterday between the US and Iran in the Swiss town of Bürgenstock had been canceled.

In a statement released by the White House, it was reported that the trip to Switzerland by US Vice President James David Vance, who was to lead the US delegation at the meeting in Switzerland, had been canceled, and the following statement was used: "As the Vice President noted in his press conference, plans for upcoming technical discussions have not yet been finalized, and the US delegation is ready to depart at the first opportunity. However, the logistical arrangements for these negotiations have never been simple or predictable. As of now, the Vice President will not be departing tonight. We will inform you as soon as there is a concrete development regarding the next steps. We look forward to the technical discussions beginning as soon as possible."

While no official statement was made by Iran regarding the cancellation of the meeting, the Iranian press reported that Iranian negotiators first wanted to see signs that the US was implementing the agreement and that it was not clear whether the Iranian delegation would travel to Switzerland.
