In the US, former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have announced that they are supporting Kamala Harris for the White House nomination.
The endorsement, announced via a video showing a phone call with Harris, comes as Harris continues to gain momentum as the party's likely nominee following President Joe Biden's decision to end his re-election bid.

In the released video, Obama said, “Michelle and I called to say we couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you into the Oval Office in this election.”
Harris, who has known the Obamas since his election in 2008, thanked them for their friendship and said she looked forward to “being on the road together” in the three-month period leading up to Election Day on November 5.
