It has been claimed that US President Donald Trump's assessment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's stance during the war with Russia has become more positive in recent weeks.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal citing sources close to Trump, the former president had long argued in private conversations that Ukraine was losing the war. However, sources stated that Trump has recently been impressed by the Kyiv administration's approach to attacks extending into Russian territory.

The report noted that Trump specifically highlighted Ukraine's unmanned aerial vehicle capacity and the defense capabilities it has developed against Russian attacks. According to the sources, Trump also viewed Kyiv's defense methods against Iranian-made Shahed drones favorably.

The same sources suggested that there are also signs of a shift in Trump's assessments regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump had met with Zelenskyy during the NATO Summit held in Ankara and stated that support would be provided to Ukraine regarding Patriot production. During the meeting, Trump had said, "We will give Ukraine the right to produce Patriots and show them how to do it. We will give you a license to produce Patriots."

Zelenskyy is expected to meet with Trump in the US capital, Washington, today.
