Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Esmail Qaani has appeared in Tehran for the first time following various allegations regarding his status.

Qaani, who had not been seen in public for about two weeks amid claims that he was killed or wounded in Israel's attack on Beirut, or that he was being interrogated by the Revolutionary Guards for allegedly leaking intelligence to Israel, has resurfaced.

In footage broadcast by Iranian state television, Qaani was seen attending the welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the body of Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, who lost his life in the Israeli attack in Beirut on September 27, in Tehran.

In addition to Qaani, many high-ranking Iranian political and military officials also attended the ceremony.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Claims had been made that Esmail Qaani was targeted in the Israeli attack in Beirut that killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Nilforoushan. Qaani had later visited the Hezbollah office in Tehran.

Following this, Western media outlets had put forward claims that Qaani, who was alleged to have been killed or wounded in Israel's Beirut attack on October 4, was subsequently being interrogated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps due to an intelligence leak to Israel and had suffered a heart attack during the interrogation.
