Italian Foreign Minister: 'Iran-US talks went well'

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in a statement to the Rete4 channel, made assessments regarding the second round of negotiations between Iran and the US, which took place at the Omani Embassy in Rome, the capital of Italy, on April 19.

Tajani said, "The meeting held between Iran and the US under the mediation of Oman went well."

Stating that he had spoken with both sides, Tajani said, "I was in constant contact with both the Iranians and the Americans, and the impressions received are positive. I just spoke with the Iranian Foreign Minister; he told me that another meeting will be held in Muscat at the end of next week. I spoke with the Iranian Foreign Minister a short while ago, and he told me that another meeting will be held in Muscat at the end of next week to reach an agreement, an agreement that should ensure Iran does not build an atomic bomb, but Iran wants to continue using nuclear energy as an energy source."

Italian Minister Tajani said, "If everything moves in the right direction, which it seems to be, it may be possible to neutralize one of the fuses causing the great chaos and instability in the Middle East."
