Italian Prime Minister Meloni explains how peace will be achieved in Ukraine
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated during her meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome that Russia must take concrete steps toward peace in the Ukraine War.

Zelenskyy, who attended the funeral ceremony held at the Vatican for Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, held a series of official contacts on this occasion.
In a written statement from the Italian Prime Minister's Office, it was noted that Meloni and Zelenskyy met today at the Chigi Palace, stating, "The leaders reiterated their support for the efforts of (US) President (Donald) Trump to ensure a just and lasting peace that will guarantee a future full of security, sovereignty, and freedom for Ukraine."
The statement, which also conveyed that Prime Minister Meloni expressed her condolences for Russia's recent attacks on Ukraine, noted the following:
"The Prime Minister expressed her firm condemnation of these actions, drawing attention to the urgent need for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and the necessity for Moscow to make a concrete commitment to initiate the peace process. The Prime Minister also stated that she welcomed Ukraine's full readiness for an immediate ceasefire. The expectation now is for Russia to also demonstrate its desire to advance on the path to peace with concrete steps."
Zelenskyy, who was in Rome for the Pope's funeral, met with US President Donald Trump inside St. Peter's Basilica before the morning mass, and subsequently met with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
