Joint sanctions to be imposed on individuals and legal entities

It has been reported that the US and the UK will impose joint sanctions on individuals and legal entities linked to Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the coordinated sanctions decision by the US and the UK on his X account.

According to a statement on the US Department of the Treasury's website, the sanctions target 6 individuals and 2 legal entities linked to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, as well as 2 individuals who are members of Hamas.

According to the report by AA, under the scope of the sanctions, all assets of the relevant individuals held in the US or having direct or indirect links to US individuals and legal entities have been frozen, and their transactions have been blocked.

The sanctions, which aim to restrict the activities of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement and Hamas, were based on decisions made by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on October 18, October 27, and in May 2022.
