Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, stating that a "new era" has begun in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, argued that the region would be more stable and economically advantageous in a structure without the US.
"A NEW ERA IS BEGINNING"
In a post on the social media platform X marking "National Gulf Day," Khamenei stated that a new process has begun for the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed that the region would have a brighter future in a scenario where there is no American presence.
Khamenei wrote, "Two months after the world's tyrants' greatest military mobilization and attack in the region, and after America's shameful defeat in its own plan, a new era is beginning today for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz."
EMPHASIS ON "SHARED DESTINY" AND SECURITY
Stating that there is a shared destiny between Iran and the Gulf countries, Khamenei reacted to the presence of foreign powers in the region.
"The evil foreigners have nowhere else to go but the depths of the water." Using these expressions, Khamenei stated that Iran would ensure the security of the Gulf and "eliminate the enemy's misuse of the waterway" He argued that the new administration to be established in the Strait of Hormuz would bring peace and development to the region, while also providing economic contributions to all Gulf countries.
HARSH CRITICISM OF US PRESENCE
Khamenei also targeted the US military presence in the region. He argued that this presence is a source of instability rather than security.
"The presence of American foreigners and their settlement in the lands of the Persian Gulf is the most significant factor of insecurity in the region. America's imaginary bases are incapable of even ensuring their own security; there is no hope that America can provide security to its dependents and pro-American allies in the region." he wrote.

Following the war that began with the joint attacks by the US and Israel, Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz, which is of critical importance for global energy transport, to traffic.
