Following a passenger plane's collision with a military helicopter while attempting to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the US, which resulted in the aircraft crashing into the Potomac River, the bodies of 18 people were recovered during search operations in the river.

It was noted that among those who lost their lives were athletes returning from the US Figure Skating Championships and their coaches. It was stated that former world champions Yevgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were among the deceased.
Russian media reported that Shishkova and Naumov, who were married and won the world title in pair skating in 1994, were on the plane along with their child, Maxim.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also answered questions regarding the plane crash during a press conference.

Extending his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash, Peskov responded to a journalist's question about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would call US President Donald Trump, stating that no such call is currently planned.
Meanwhile, it was noted that the plane's two black boxes were located during the search operations in the river.
