Kremlin confirms Putin will hold talks with US President Trump

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will hold a phone call on May 19.

Peskov made a statement to the TASS news agency regarding the Putin-Trump phone call.

Confirming the information provided by US President Trump that he would speak with Putin by phone on Monday, Peskov said, "The call is being prepared."

US President Trump had announced in a post on his Truth Social account that he would hold a phone call with Putin on Monday at 10:00 (US time). 

Trump noted that the conversation would concern achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine and trade, adding that he would subsequently speak with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of certain NATO member countries.

Donald Trump had remarked, "I hope it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will be achieved, and this war, which should never have happened, will come to an end."
