Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated regarding the nuclear exercise, "The exercise involves practicing the tasks of carrying out a massive nuclear strike in retaliation for a nuclear strike by the enemy."

The Kremlin's statement noted that during the exercise, which was monitored by Russian President Vladimir Putin via video conference, nuclear deterrent weapons belonging to land, sea, and air assets were utilized.

The statement, which pointed out that ballistic and cruise missiles were launched during the exercise, recorded that the launches were controlled from the Russian National Defense Control Center.
