Latest election poll in Israel: Netanyahu bloc far from majority, opposition ahead
According to a Maariv poll, while the opposition bloc appears to be in the lead for the October 27 elections, neither bloc is reaching the 61 seats required to form a government.

The latest public opinion poll released ahead of the general elections scheduled for October 27 in Israel shows that the coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains far from a parliamentary majority.
According to the poll shared by the Maariv newspaper, the anti-Netanyahu parties are expected to win 54 seats in the 120-seat parliament. The parties in the coalition government led by Netanyahu are projected to fall to 50 seats.
The poll indicated that parties representing Palestinian citizens of Israel could secure 12 seats, while the Reservists Party, which is not part of any bloc, could reach 4 seats.
According to this picture, neither the coalition led by Netanyahu nor the opposition bloc can reach the 61-seat threshold necessary to form a government. The results suggest that post-election coalition negotiations could be decisive.
The results regarding preferences for prime minister in the survey were also found to be noteworthy for Netanyahu. While 48 percent of participants preferred Gadi Eisenkot for prime minister, the rate of those supporting Netanyahu remained at 40 percent.
