Lebanese Prime Minister Salam calls on the US to mediate

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that 20 percent of the Lebanese population has been displaced by Israeli attacks and requested that US President Donald Trump intervene to begin direct negotiations with Israel.

Salam said, "We are informing President Trump that we are ready to immediately begin direct negotiations with Israel under international auspices to end this conflict and secure Lebanon's sovereignty."

Stating that the US is a strategic partner, Salam conveyed that Trump could pressure all parties to achieve a ceasefire.

"We did not choose this war; it was imposed upon us," said Salam, emphasizing that 20 percent of the Lebanese population has been displaced due to Israeli attacks.
