Lebanon: Approximately 400,000 people have returned to their homes in the south

In Lebanon, where Israel continues its attacks despite the current ceasefire, Lebanese citizens who were forced to leave their homes in the south due to intense bombardment are returning. Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Sayed met with local officials during a visit to the city of Tyre and made statements regarding the return of the Lebanese people. Sayed stated that despite the fragile ceasefire in the region, the public is returning to their homes.

Stating that approximately 400,000 people displaced by Israeli attacks have returned to their homes in the south of the country, Sayed noted that many others are unable to return because their homes have been heavily damaged or because access to the areas where they lived is still not possible. Sayed remarked, "The ceasefire is still fragile, but the southern regions have begun to witness the return of a large number of displaced people."

Noting that the Lebanese government's financial resources are limited, Sayed stated that they will call on the international community for funding to implement reconstruction projects to address the destruction caused by Israeli attacks and to provide emergency support to families affected by the conflict.

The Lebanese Minister noted that they are working on rental support for families who have not yet been able to return to their homes, while also evaluating options such as providing financial aid for the repair of lightly damaged residences and supplying prefabricated housing as a temporary solution.

4,303 people have lost their lives in Israeli attacks on Lebanon

The Lebanese Ministry of Health had announced that 4,303 people have lost their lives and 12,202 people have been injured in Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2. It was stated that more than 1 million people were forced to leave their homes due to the attacks.
