Letter from Iran to the United Nations Security Council: 'In accordance with the right to self-defense'

The letter sent by Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Amir Saeid Iravani, to the UN Security Council has emerged.
In the letter, it was reported that Iran carried out a missile attack on Israel's military and security targets on Tuesday evening.
Stating that the attack was carried out "in accordance with the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter," the letter expressed that this was a response to the "Zionist regime's" violations of Iran's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The letter noted that these violations included the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was an official guest of Iran, the injury of its ambassador in Lebanon, and the assassinations of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and a senior Iranian military advisor.
The letter stated that, unlike the "Zionist regime" which targets innocent civilians, the attacks targeted only military and security facilities in accordance with ethical principles and international humanitarian law, and expressed regret that the UNSC had failed to fulfill its primary duty.
The letter argued that the inaction of the UNSC had allowed Israel to violate all red lines, leaving Iran with no choice but to exercise its right to self-defense under international law.

Emphasizing that Iran strongly warns the "terrorist Israeli regime" against further aggression, the letter stated that Iran has the right to protect its interests, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
The letter included a warning that in the event of a new attack by Israel, "Iran's response will be swift, decisive, and much stronger than before" without any hesitation.
The letter called on the UNSC to take decisive and urgent action to stop the war crimes committed by Israel in Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria, pointing out that this is the only way to prevent a comprehensive regional war.
