Letter from suspect in Trump assassination attempt revealed: 'I will pay $150,000 to whoever finishes the job'

A letter written by the suspect in the second assassination attempt on former US President and Republican Party candidate Donald Trump has emerged. It was reported that in the letter, written months ago, Ryan Wesley Routh described the assassination attempt and offered a bounty on Trump's head.

Routh's handwritten letter, addressed 'to the world,' contains the following statements: “Dear world, this was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the courage I could muster. It is now up to you to finish the job; I will offer $150,000 to whoever can complete the job."

It was stated that Routh left the letter in question at the home of an unnamed witness several months before the assassination attempt. According to the indictment, the box containing the letter also held ammunition, building materials, and four phones. Furthermore, according to a statement made by the Department of Justice on Monday, a list of dates and locations regarding Donald Trump's schedule was also found in 58-year-old Routh's vehicle.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On September 15, reports were made that gunshots were heard in the area while the former president was playing golf in Florida. His campaign team stated that while Trump was on the golf course, shots were heard 'in his vicinity' and that he was safe.

Security units in the region, the FBI, and the Secret Service held a press conference regarding the incident. The Secret Service announced that while Trump was on the golf course, the agents responsible saw the muzzle of a rifle sticking out of the bushes and immediately opened fire. According to cell phone records cited by federal authorities, the suspect had been hiding on the public side of the fence for approximately 12 hours.

An AK-47 type rifle with a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera were recovered from the bushes where the suspect was seen. Local security units said Trump was about 250-550 meters away from the gunman at the time. Regarding the Secret Service's intervention as soon as they saw the weapon, County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said, "The Secret Service did exactly what they should have done."

The suspect, who fled the scene in a black Nissan, was located and taken into custody with the help of eyewitnesses. It was noted that the suspect did not fire any shots during the incident.

HE WAS WOUNDED IN THE EAR

Weeks ago, Trump was also subjected to an armed attack while speaking at a podium during a campaign rally. One person attending the rally died and 2 people were injured in the attack, and the US Secret Service announced that the attacker had been neutralized. The FBI defined the attack as an assassination attempt and, following investigations, announced that the person who carried out the assassination attempt and was killed at the scene was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
