Letter to Biden protesting Israel policies in the US
In the US, more than 400 political appointees working in various government units have sent a letter to President Joe Biden protesting the government's policy on Israel.

According to a report by the New York Times (NYT), the letter, which protests the US support for Israeli attacks in Gaza, calls on Biden to demand an immediate ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.
CALL FOR AID TO GAZA
The letter states, "We call on President Biden to urgently demand a ceasefire and call for the de-escalation of the current conflict by ensuring the immediate release of Israeli hostages and arbitrarily detained Palestinians, and by calling for the restoration of water, fuel, electricity, and other basic services in Gaza, as well as the delivery of adequate humanitarian aid."
The letter, which emphasizes that the vast majority of Americans support a ceasefire according to polls, also states, "Furthermore, Americans do not want the US military to be dragged into another costly and senseless war in the Middle East."
PARTICIPATION FROM VARIOUS OFFICIALS IN THE PROTEST
Two political officials who led the organization of the protest letter sent to Biden and spoke to the NYT shared that the majority of the signatories consist of political appointees of various faiths working in different units ranging from the National Security Council to the Department of Justice and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The two individuals, who wished to remain anonymous, pointed out that the people who signed the letter were instrumental in helping Biden get elected in 2020 and that they are concerned that the administration's support for Israeli attacks in Gaza conflicts with the stance of Democratic voters on the issue.
The letter sent to Biden bears the signatures of more than 400 political appointees and staff representing approximately 40 government agencies.
Criticisms have also been directed at the US support for Israeli attacks in internal correspondence within the US Department of State, and most recently, 100 diplomats from the department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) accused Biden of "spreading misinformation" regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza.
In a statement signed by 100 diplomats working at the Department of State and USAID, it was stated that Israel has committed "war crimes" in Gaza.
The Biden administration is turning a deaf ear to calls for a ceasefire from domestic and international platforms, citing the reason that it would benefit Hamas, for Israel's attacks in Gaza that have claimed the lives of more than 11 thousand civilians, most of whom are children and women.
