In a written statement issued by the Libyan government, it was noted that the electronic visa system has begun for short-term visits in the first phase, and that applications for work visas will begin to be accepted electronically once the second phase is implemented.
The statement, which described the e-visa system as a new technological step that will improve Libya's civilized image and increase the efficiency of the government's operations, expressed gratitude to the organizations that contributed to the implementation of the system.
The statement indicated that visa applications can be made via the "Evisa.gov.ly" website.
In a statement on February 26, the Libyan government had stated that the e-visa system would begin in mid-March and that it was expected that residence permit procedures for foreigners and special mission visas would also begin to be processed electronically before the end of June.
