The results of the exit poll conducted after the polls closed in the presidential election held in Belarus have been announced. According to the statement made by state television, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko is the winner of the election with 87.6 percent of the vote.
According to the poll, among the other candidates, Sergey Syrankov from the Communist Party of Belarus received 2.7 percent, Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus leader Oleg Gaidukevich received 1.8 percent, independent candidate and businesswoman Anna Kanopatskaya received 1.6 percent, and Republican Party of Labor and Justice leader Alexander Khizhnyak received 1.2 percent of the vote.
The rate of those who voted against all candidates in the election was recorded at 5.1 percent. It was stated that the exit poll was conducted with the participation of 11,948 people.
In a statement from the Central Election Commission of Belarus, it was stated that the voter turnout as of 18:00 was 81.5 percent. The official election results are expected to be announced.
