20-year-old Karlee Ozkurt, who lives in the US state of Wisconsin, said that her electronic cigarette addiction began in her early teens, caused her right lung to collapse twice, and left it permanently damaged.
The 20-year-old woman used electronic cigarettes for five years.
HER BIGGEST REGRET IN LIFE
"I'm worried that I won't make it past 40 now," said Karlee, adding that starting to use electronic cigarettes was the worst decision she has ever made and remains her biggest regret in life. The young woman, whose lung collapsed for the first time while she was at work in November 2021, waited two days to go to the hospital, thinking she was experiencing a muscle spasm in her back.
Karlee said, "The first time, my lung had to be re-inflated with a needle and syringe, but after it collapsed again in November 2022, I had to undergo surgery to have it reattached to the chest wall."
Karlee is warning people so that more individuals do not continue to keep electronic cigarettes in their lives as an addiction.
