French President Emmanuel Macron held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran in Pakistan.
In a statement on his social media account regarding his phone call with Pezeshkian, Macron said, "I urged him to seize the opportunity presented by the talks initiated in Islamabad to pave the way for a lasting de-escalation and to reach a demanding agreement that includes all relevant countries in the region and provides solid security guarantees" he said.
Stating that he emphasized efforts to restore the safety of international maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz, Macron said, "I underscored that Iran must rapidly restore freedom of navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz, to which France is also ready to contribute" he stated.
