Macron warns Netanyahu of 'war crime'

French President Emmanuel Macron warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the forced displacement of Palestinians in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip could constitute a "war crime," and announced that France plans to submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an "immediate and lasting ceasefire" in Gaza.

French President Emmanuel Macron and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call. During the conversation, Macron warned Netanyahu that the forced displacement of Palestinians in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip could constitute a "war crime" and reiterated his opposition to any military operation in Rafah.

France plans to submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an "immediate and lasting ceasefire."

Condemning Israel's seizure of 800 hectares of land in the West Bank region of Palestine last Friday, Macron announced to Netanyahu his intention to submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an "immediate and lasting ceasefire" in Gaza.

Macron also called on Netanyahu to immediately open all crossing points into the Gaza Strip for the entry of humanitarian aid.
