It has been claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to warn him that 'the Tel Aviv administration is dragging the region into war.'

During the call, Macron told Netanyahu, "You are dragging the region into war."

Netanyahu responded to Macron by saying, 'Instead of pressuring Israel, it is time for you to pressure Hezbollah to stop its attacks.'

Israel carried out airstrikes on Beirut yesterday (September 20).

According to a report by the Israel-based newspaper Yedioth Ahronot, Macron called Netanyahu following an airstrike by the Israeli military on the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut. Macron told Netanyahu that the war must not 'escalate' and demanded that he stop Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

An unnamed French official cited in the newspaper assessed that 'the recent security incidents in Lebanon have increased the possibility of war, but the diplomatic path remains open.'

ISRAEL CONTINUES TO STRIKE LEBANON

In an airstrike carried out by the Israeli military using an F-35 fighter jet on a residential building in the Jamous area of southern Beirut, 14 people were killed and 66 were injured, 9 of them seriously.

Clashes have been occurring intermittently between the parties on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 2023.
