Brown, who was convicted of murder and sent to prison at the age of 18, was released in 2018 after it was revealed that he was innocent, nearly 10 years later.
34-year-old Brown won the lawsuit he filed following his release. Accordingly, it was reported that Brown would be paid $50 million in compensation.
According to court documents, his lawyer argued that Brown's constitutional rights were violated during the trial process in which he was accused of murder.
The court documents, which state that Brown was not allowed to speak with a lawyer or his family when he was taken into custody, also alleged that the authorities who interrogated Brown held him for a day and forced him to give a false statement.
Speaking to the press in front of the Dirksen Federal Court after the decision was announced, Brown said, "Justice has finally been served for my family and me."
