Massive US arms sale to the Gulf while war continues: Exceeds 16 billion dollars

The US Department of State has announced that it has approved arms sales to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, and Jordan with a total value exceeding 16 billion dollars. The decision is notable for coming after the Pentagon's request for an additional budget for military expenditures linked to Iran.

In statements made by the Department, it was noted that the sale of over 8.4 billion dollars worth of F-16 munitions, radar systems, and advanced air-to-air missile systems to the UAE has been authorized.

It was stated that air and missile defense radar systems worth approximately 8 billion dollars will be provided to Kuwait, while the sale of approximately 70 million dollars worth of aircraft support equipment and munitions to Jordan has been approved.

EXCEEDS 16 BILLION DOLLARS

While it was reported that the sales in question have been notified to the US Congress, it was noted that the total amount exceeds 16 billion dollars.

On the other hand, these sales have been recorded as one of the largest arms sales the US has made following attacks directed at Iran. Information was also shared that the US had previously approved different arms sales to Jordan and Israel.

The timing of the decision is notable as it coincides with the period immediately following the Pentagon's request for a 200 billion dollar additional budget for operations linked to Iran.
