As Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi continues his official contacts in Syria, an agreement has been reached between Turkey and Syria regarding cooperation in the field of disaster management.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Ministry of Interior and the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, aiming to establish an effective framework for cooperation in the field of disaster and emergency management.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Minister Çiftçi on behalf of Turkey and by Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed El-Salih on behalf of Syria.

The signed memorandum of understanding aims to establish a joint and effective cooperation mechanism between the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) under the Ministry of Interior.

The memorandum of understanding provides for the provision of mutual voluntary assistance and response support upon request in the event of potential disasters or emergencies that may occur in either country. The agreement also covers the sharing of information and experience, the mutual exchange of experts, and the organization of joint specialized training programs in critical areas such as protection from disasters and emergencies, preparedness, and crisis management.
