In Germany, where mandatory military service has been abolished, a shortage of soldiers has begun to emerge. The German army is considering filling this gap with Turks.

'LEGIONNAIRE BATTALIONS' TO BE ESTABLISHED

Legionnaire battalions’ consisting of mercenaries will be established in the country. People of Turkish descent who were born and raised in Germany and have obtained German citizenship will become mercenaries. 

HOW MUCH WILL TURKS WHO JOIN THE GERMAN ARMY EARN?

Accordingly, a German citizen of Turkish descent who joins the army will be able to receive a salary of approximately 40 thousand Euros per year. As rank increases, the salary will increase at the same rate. 

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated in his remarks, "Yes. If we recruit foreigners, we will not be the first armed forces in Europe to do so."
