Message from Russia ahead of Istanbul talks: 'We are ready for a serious conversation'

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the subject of the Ukraine negotiations planned in Istanbul will be how to ensure a reliable and sustainable resolution to the conflict.

While conveying the message that Russia is ready for a serious conversation, Ryabkov emphasized that in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, it is necessary to ensure the recognition of the realities on the ground, including the incorporation of new territories into Russia.

The Russian official noted that Kyiv's lack of ability to reach an agreement is one of the obstacles in the negotiation process.

'WE ARE MAINTAINING AN INTENSE DIALOGUE WITH TURKEY'

Explaining that Moscow is maintaining an intense dialogue with Ankara, Ryabkov continued his words as follows:

"We are consulting with our Turkish colleagues, including the Ambassador to Moscow (Tanju Bilgiç), on issues related to international security and cooperation on international platforms. An intense dialogue is being conducted with Turkey. This country has a key role in many relationships. We are aware of this."
