It has been reported that Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, will terminate the employment of 5 percent of its staff based on performance and intends to hire new personnel to replace those laid off.

According to reports in the US press, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in a note sent to company employees that this year would be busy and that he wanted to ensure the teams consisted of the best employees.

Stating that he has decided to raise the bar in performance management and remove those who show low performance, Zuckerberg announced that they would proceed with performance-based layoffs and that they intend to refill the vacated positions in 2025.

Pointing out that they would not fire everyone who fails to meet expectations if they are optimistic about their future performance, Zuckerberg noted that they would provide "generous" severance pay to the personnel whose employment is terminated.

Stating that those affected by the layoffs will be notified on February 10, Zuckerberg indicated that employees outside the US would be informed later.
