Mexican President files lawsuit after being harassed

Following the incident, Sheinbaum emphasized that she had decided to file a lawsuit and that this decision was important not only for herself but for all women. "If this can happen to me, what can we expect for the young women in our country?" she asked.

Sheinbaum also criticized the unauthorized sharing of the video of the incident, stating that it caused the victim to relive the trauma. Furthermore, she announced that she would launch an awareness campaign aimed at educating men. "This is a matter concerning the dignity of women and the recognition of their rights," she said.

The fact that Sheinbaum's security detail allowed the harasser to get so close also drew criticism. The President stated that this incident was linked to a booklet she published regarding women's rights, expressing that all Mexican women must be defended.
