Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum made statements at a press conference held in the capital, Mexico City, regarding the violence that erupted following the killing of El Mencho, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the country's most wanted drug lord.
Sheinbaum stated that security forces are working in a coordinated manner across the country, noting that as of today, there are no longer any blockades on any highways and that operations have almost entirely returned to normal.
Mexican Secretary of National Defense Ricardo Trevilla Trejo and Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar Garcia Harfuch also attended the press conference.
